We’re giant Fiona fans, and no, we’re not talking about Princess Fiona from the kids movie Shrek.
We’re talking about Fiona MacFarlane, who brought all her strength and power and channeled it into making the workplace a more diverse scene.
“I am so privileged to be able to use my position to make the case for inclusiveness and get it onto board and CEO agendas as a business issue,” she stated in this Canadian Immigrant article.
Fiona was appointed Managing Partner at Ernst and Young in 2005, and has been there ever since.
She’s the Canadian Chief Inclusiveness Officer, and is thoroughly skilled in management consulting, corporate finance, and mergers & acquisitions.
Apart from E&Y, Fiona has also been in multiple volunteer roles, sharing her expertise with others. She’s been a part of the B.C. Business Council as an executive and governor, Immigrant Employment Council of B.C. as a board member, and the International Women’s Forum Canada’s committee as co-chair.
Power To The Diverse
In addition to promoting diversity in the workplace, Fiona is a strong advocate of female empowerment.
“Currently, women only occupy 14% of all board seats in Canada. If every company, added just one woman to their board this year, the proportion of women-led directorships would jump eight percentage points,” Fiona stated in this LinkedIn article.
A true role model with her past and current achievements, Fiona's beliefs are an excellent example of what the workplace should look like.
To end in her words, “if we can put a man on the moon, surely we can create gender-equal boardrooms.”
