Canada’s sustainability goals are becoming more and more active, with even Vancouver trying to become the greenest city by 2020.
But when it comes to eco-sustainability in the finance world, Michelle Scarborough is leading the way.
With over 20 years of experience as both an entrepreneur and an investor, Michelle is an accomplished female voice, blazing a trail for others to follow in her footsteps. She’s currently the Managing Director, Strategic Investments and Women In Tech at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). Michelle is responsible for BDC’s $200 million investment to bring capital to women led high-growth tech companies.
B.B.D.C (Before Business Development Bank of Canada)
Before BDC, she was the Senior Vice President at Kensington Capital in Calgary for over three years.
The list of her achievements are longer than Santa’s list at Christmastime, but one of her outstanding feats include founding one of the first ever technology accelerators in Ontario while in the position of Managing Director of the Invest Ottawa Regional Innovational Centre.
Other notable achievements include founding the Women’s Angel Network in Canada, Fronterra Ventures, Naples Capital, Bonita Capital Corporation, and Scarborough Associates Management.
Her specialities lie in strategic planning, cleantech, investment, and executive management.
A Canadian groundbreaker, Michelle has done so much with her time over the last 20 years that we believe she should be added to the next print of the Canadian dollar bills.
The smell of maple syrup mixed with female empowerment on those crisp, crisp notes? We’re voting yes.
